Mark 5 Ministries Statement of Faith

The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and uniquely authoritative Word of God. The Scriptures reveal who God is, His plan and will for people, and are able to lead us to the full knowledge of salvation (II Tim 3:15-16; I Pet. 1:16; Luke 24:44-45).

God

We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4Matt. 28:19). God’s nature is holy (I Sam. 2:26:20Psa. 99:9) and all His works are righteous (Psa. 145:17Dan. 9:14); and yet His essence is love (I John 4:8), which is the basis of His merciful and saving actions towards people (Rom. 5:8Eph. 2:4Titus 3:4-7).

Jesus Christ

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is co-equal and co-eternal with God the Father. Being both fully God and fully human, He is the only mediator between God and humans. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross in order to reconcile us to God. We believe in His bodily resurrection and His ascension to the right hand of the Father (John 1:114Col. 2:9I Tim. 2:5Matt. 1:18-251 Pet. 2:241 Cor. 15:3-4Luke 24:44).

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is present on earth, convicting people of sin, empowering us to live Godly lives, transforming our lives into the likeness of Christ, giving gifts to the members of Christ’s body, and leading us into all truth (John 14:2616:82 Cor. 3:17-181 Cor. 12:7-11).

Salvation

We believe all people need God’s salvation, which is by His grace alone through believing in the finished work of Christ, resulting in regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Eph. 2:4-9Rom. 3:23-26Titus 3:5-7Gal. 2:16I Peter 1:3). Through regeneration, God has put us in Christ (I Cor. 1:302 Cor. 5:17I Cor. 15:22Rom. 8:1) and Christ now lives in us through His Spirit who indwells us (Col. 1:27Rom. 8:10-11Gal. 2:204:6).

The Church

We believe all regenerated believers are members of the one universal body of Christ (Rom. 12:5I Cor. 12:12-14Gal. 3:28). The oneness of believers should testify to the reality of Christ’s finished work and His presence in the world today (John 17:20-23Eph. 3:10-11John 13:35).

Eternity

We believe in the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the resurrection of all people, and in God’s righteous judgment of all persons; the redeemed will be welcomed into God’s glorious presence and eternal kingdom, and the lost will be eternally separated from God (I Thess. 4:165:23Heb. 9:272 Cor. 5:10Rev. 20:12-15Matt. 13:49-50).
